Two of our values are service and responsibility. We put this into action by raising funds and practical help for local, national and internal causes.
Congratulations to everyone at Briscoe for raising an amazing £148.50 for Comic Relief in March 2018. This money is used to support people in the UK and across Africa.
Each autumn we celebrate harvest with our Big Harvest Breakfast. Children, parents and staff join in the hall for a breakfast of toast and cereal – wearing their pyjamas! Donations of tinned and packet foods are collected to donate to a local women’s refuge.
On 21st September 2018 Briscoe supported the 'Jeans for Genes' Charity. Children and staff all wore their jeans to school and paid a donation. We managed to raise £160.00 for a very worthy cause.
In November each year we support Pudsey Bear, raising money for Children in Need. It’s important to us that our pupils have a wider understanding of people’s needs and issues, and that we can help people even if we don’t know them personally. On Friday 16th November 2018 Briscoe supported BBC Children in Need by making a donation to wear colourful clothes and bring a teddy to school. We managed to raise £185.87 which will go towards helping disadvantaged children in the UK.
On Tuesday 11th December Briscoe Choir travelled to the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Basildon to sing Christmas Carols. Many of our parents went along to support the choir, who raised £122.64 for St Luke's Hospice.
Children in the Foundation Stage love to visit Poplar House; a local residential home for the elderly. They chat with the residents and sing along together. They even take them a cake!
In the spring term, our PE co-ordinator plans special events for all children, to raise money for Sport Relief. Nationally, 50% of funds raised is used to make a difference here in the UK, and 50% goes towards transforming lives across the world’s poorest communities.
